TERMS OF TRADE (TOT)
The terms of trade (TOT) is the relative value of one commodity to another commodity typically expressed as price ratio or relative prices of commodities. The commodity terms-of-trade helps gauge a situation’s impact on one group of livelihoods34 in comparison to another one.
ToT indicator is used to measure household power of exchange, the incentives to market and sale which ultimately determines food access. The main indicators monitored include cereal to cereal, labour to cereals (sorghum, maize, rice) for poor households and goat/sheep to cereals for livestock keepers.
To access TOT data :
1. From the dashboard, click Market Data & Analysis on the left side bar menu .
2. Click Terms of Trade link
3. From the selection criteria section (the top part) select the following :
- First Commodity e.g. White maize grain
- Unit of measurement e.g Malwa 3.5Kg
- Second Commodity (livestock\labour)
- State
- Counties of interest based on the state selected
- Period
- Average years
- Series
- Check show average on graph (optional)
4. Click Get Data button
